The Association of Pension Funds of the Czech Republic (APF CR) is a voluntary joint-interest association of legal persons, in particular pension funds. It was established on June 25, 1996, at the constituent meeting of members, as an independent legal entity continuing the activities of the former APF CR which did not have legal identity, and whose existence terminated as of the date of establishment of the new association.
The area of activities of APF CR is defined in Art. 3 of the Articles of Association according to which APF CR shall:
- Coordinate, represent, defend and further joint interests of its members,
- Promote the idea of additional pension insurance,
- Comment on legislative proposals and other measures concerning additional pension insurance and other interests of pension funds, and initiate their changes,
- Function as an advisory and information centre,
- Support and organize educational and scientific activities,
- Represent joint interests of its members on the international forum. Establish and expand relations with similar institutions abroad, and participate in the proces of approximating the conditions of additional pension insurance in the Czech Republic to the standards of the European Union,
- Ensure the observance of ethical principles of relations between APF CR members and persons participating in the additional pension insurance system,
- Eliminate differences between APF CR members, organize professional, legal and specific cooperation in regard to the processes of mergers, amalgamations and dissolutions of pension funds, for the purpose of eliminating potential negative consequences for the image of additional pension insurance and the participants.
For the purpose of carrying out its tasks, APF CR has set up specialized commissions (sections) for informatics, operating management of funds, legislation, economy, ethics, insurance mathematics, PR activities and external relations.
Membership in APF CR is voluntary and has two forms: ordinary membership and associate membership.
Ordinary membership is open to pension funds established on the basis of Law No. 42/1994 on additional pension insurance with state contribution, as amended. Membership originates by unilateral accession by a pension fund.
Associate membership is open to legal persons operating in areas related to or closely connected with additional pension insurance. Associate membership originates on the basis of application, upon its approval by the APF CR Presidium.
Ten pension funds were members of the Association of Pension Funds of the Czech Republic by the publication date. This number represents the full membership of the approved pension funds active in the market. One associate member was active in the Association of Pension Funds of the Czech Republic by this date.
